To change the motor oil of your KTM 500 EXC, the process begins by placing the bike in a stable position, preferably on a stand, so that it is completely vertical. At this point, you will need to slightly warm up the engine, starting it for a few minutes, so that the oil becomes more fluid and can flow easily. Once warmed up, turn off the bike and locate the drain plug located under the engine. Be prepared with a container to collect the old oil and carefully unscrew the drain plug, allowing all the oil to completely drain out. When the oil has completely drained, reposition the drain plug making sure it is securely tightened. Next, locate the oil fill plug and fill with the correct amount of new oil, checking the amount specified in the motorcycle manual. Finally, recheck the levels with the dipstick to ensure they are adequate before starting the engine again.
