How to Reset the Service Light on a Land Rover Freelander

To perform the manual reset procedure for the service light, first, get into your vehicle and engage the handbrake for added safety. Before resetting the service light, carry out the maintenance checks as specified by the manufacturer. For the reset, use the "A" button, located to the right under the speedometer; or "B" on the indicator, depending on what is present. If the maintenance indicator has not exceeded 20% of the mileage, it cannot be reset manually but only with diagnostic equipment. 1) Close all vehicle doors; 2) do not press the brake and clutch pedals; 3) Insert the ignition remote into the designated slot; 4) press and hold the A or B button; 5) Press and hold the start button to turn on the instrument panel; 6) within 10 seconds, release the A or B button. 7) The message DIStd or DATE will appear on the panel, depending on the message that needs to be reset; 8) press the A or B button for at least 5 seconds, at which point the message RESET will be displayed; 9) subsequently, the message END or DATE will appear, indicating the end of the reset process; 10) if the DATE message appears, press and hold the A or B button within 5 seconds. 11) The display will show the message RESET for 5 seconds. Exit the reset functions. 12) The END message indicates the end of programming; press the start button to turn off the instrument panel.
