The aim of this video is to show you how to wrap the casing of the wing mirror on the Lotus Evora, which has a very complex shape with sharp edges and a deep recess at the bottom. The technique used is "preheating and stretching". Heat the vinyl sheet with a heat gun or a very hot hairdryer to make the material soft, elastic, and malleable; while the vinyl is warm, gently stretch it to adhere to the most difficult curves, preventing wrinkles and allowing the vinyl sheet to wrap around the surface. While wrapping the vinyl, continue to locally heat the edges and curved areas to ensure they adhere perfectly. Finish off with a craft knife (that is, a retractable blade to avoid scratching the bodywork) to precisely cut away the excess vinyl along the edges. Wrinkles are almost inevitable in the most extreme curves, but with the right technique, they can be minimised and made almost invisible; therefore, it is essential to practice first; this is not a task for beginners; it is advisable to practice with similarly shaped objects before proceeding.
