Replacing the Shift Knob on a Mercedes W204

For this operation to replace the shift knob on the Mercedes W204, take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the operator. It should be standard practice to securely immobilize the vehicle on a stable surface or lift whenever performing maintenance on any car. Now, using your fingers, remove the clip at the base of the shift lever's leather cover. Lift the cover upward to expose the bottom of the knob's attachment. At the base, there is a component that you rotate counterclockwise and lower. Now, simply grasp the knob with both hands and pull upward to complete the removal. Take the new knob and install it by reversing the steps.
