Instructions for Dismantling the Automatic Gearbox Valve Body

Model: Mercedes Classe M W163 - Years 1997-2005

If the gear engagement in the automatic gearbox is too harsh or if the gearbox tends to go into recovery mode without engaging gears, it is likely that there is a fault with one of the solenoids that control the oil flow within the actuators. To dismantle the valve assembly, first remove the sump of the gearbox, taking care to manage any oil spillage. Then disconnect the external connector, unscrew the fixing screw of the connector housing, and remove it as well. Finally, proceed to dismantle the plate that houses the valves.
