Replacement of Automatic Gearbox Control Plate

Model: Mercedes Classe M W163 - Years 1997-2005

To carry out this maintenance, you need good mechanical knowledge and some familiarity with disassembly and assembly procedures; start by positioning a sufficiently large tray to contain the oil sump of the gearbox and proceed to unscrew the relevant fixing screws around the edge to remove it, taking care to avoid oil spillage; then disconnect the control connector by rotating the white plastic collar and unscrewing the internal pin to extract the connector; next, unscrew the screws of the fixing plate of the automatic gearbox mechatronics and remove it from its seat, then unscrew the fixing plates of the solenoids to remove them; at this point, you can extract the mechatronics (black plastic plate) and replace it with a new unit, proceeding in reverse for installation.
