The tailgate strut is actually a gas spring. Its function, besides holding the tailgate open, is to assist in opening and to slow down the descent during closing, preventing it from slamming shut.

Replacing this spring is straightforward, but before proceeding with disassembly, check the compatibility of the replacement part, specifically the length and type of attachment. Open the tailgate and remove the clip from the lower ball joint.

Support the tailgate and detach both the lower and upper joints, then reverse the process to fit the new spring.

To remove the rear seat of a Hyundai Tucson, follow these steps. Start by moving the front seats to their most forward position to gain space. Next, locate the release lever on the underside of the rear seat, near the floor. Press this lever down while pulling the seat upwards to unlock it from the anchor pins. Once unlocked, tilt the seat upwards and forwards to remove it from its position. Repeat this process for both sides of the rear seat.
