How to remove the airbag from the Mini Cooper

Today we will explain how to remove the airbag on a Mini Cooper R56 model vehicle. This operation is similar for many car models on the market; to remove the airbag, we must insert a long flat-tipped screwdriver into the side hole of the steering wheel, allowing us to push the internal lever of the central body to release it. Once the central body is released, all that's left is to disconnect the airbag connector to remove it completely. After removing the airbag, if necessary, we can proceed to remove the steering wheel by unscrewing the central nut with a T30 torque wrench.
