How to clean the remote control of a Mini Cooper (to clean the motherboard)

Model: Mini Mini R56, R57, R55 - Years 2007-2014
Part: Key

In this video, we see how to open the Mini Cooper remote control, in this case to clean the motherboard. This operation requires delicacy, as the plastic clips are fragile so we must proceed with caution. We need a very thin flat screwdriver, isopropyl alcohol, a cotton swab, and an eraser. On the back of the remote control there is a small slot; we remove the emergency key and on the opposite side of the key there is the cover: we pry it open and remove the CR2032 battery. The remote control is held together by snap fasteners along the entire perimeter. The entry point shown in the video is in the empty space left by the metal key. We pry gently and separate the two halves. We observe the motherboard, clean it with the cotton swab soaked in isopropyl alcohol squeezed, so as not to soak the motherboard. If there are stubborn oxidations, we can remove them very gently with the eraser, then remove them with a soft brush. Let it dry completely and reassemble everything by putting the battery back in place, closing the cover, and reinserting the battery.
