How to replace the battery in a Mini Cooper key? Follow this guide for the best replacement process. Take your ignition key and use a screwdriver to pry between the two plastic parts (of the key cover) until they separate. Remove the dead battery with a screwdriver and take a new one of the same size and voltage. Reassemble the two parts of the key fob cover until you hear them click into place. Check the correct operation of the key fob (by testing the lock and unlock buttons).
