How to Disable Start/Stop in a Mini Cooper?

The Start & Stop system allows the car to automatically switch off during prolonged stops, such as waiting at a red traffic light. Often, the system can be too intrusive, necessitating its deactivation. In the Mini Cooper R55, R56, and R57, where Start/Stop is fitted, there is a button on the central console to the left of the ignition switch. Pressing it will illuminate an orange light indicating that the system is disabled. Unfortunately, the car will not retain this setting; it will reset to default, meaning the Start/Stop system will be active again. You will need to disable it each time you start the vehicle.
