How to Install a Variable Timing Solenoid on a Mini

Model: Mini Mini R56, R57, R55 - Years 2007-2014
Part: Valve

This guide shows you how to remove a variable timing solenoid. Pull the lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, open the bonnet and secure it, then locate the component to work on. Using a socket wrench, unscrew the metal clamp, and with a screwdriver, pull the locking tab at the other end of the ventilation hose to remove it. Unscrew the other steel clamp that tightens the plastic hose, taking care not to damage its edge. Once you have managed to remove the component, disconnect the power connector located near the hose, and using a ratchet, unscrew the pin of the car's variable timing solenoid. Install the new solenoid after lubricating it with the appropriate pin, reconnect the electrical connector, and then install the plastic hose with the respective clamps. Always ensure that all pins and screws are tightened properly.
