This guide explains the scenarios in which the yellow spanner light appears. There are three cases; the first occurs when, upon turning on the ignition, the light comes on for a few seconds, indicating no faults.

The second case happens when, upon turning on the instrument cluster, the light remains on; in this case, the ECU has recorded an error during the last use of the vehicle. In this case, the light will turn off as soon as the engine is started.

The last case, where the light remains on even with the engine running, indicates a fault. In this last case, diagnostics must be performed to understand the type of fault.

How to Activate the Disabled TRC on the Toyota Yaris?

As the video clearly shows, disabling or activating the traction control (TRC or ESP) on the Toyota Yaris is very simple. By default, the traction system activates every time the vehicle is started. To disable it, simply press the button depicting a skidding car located in the centre of the vehicle where the controls are, such as the hazard lights and the radio, but near the handbrake. Once disabled, the TRC off light will illuminate on the dashboard. To reactivate it, just press the same button again.
