Replacing the Gear Knob on a Peugeot 206

Position the gear lever in neutral, pull the base of the gaiter to detach it and lift it completely. Use wire cutters to cut and remove the metal ring located inside, under the gear knob. Push the entire gaiter down at the base, exposing only the knob. Grip it with both hands, rotate it counter-clockwise a quarter turn, and pull it upwards. If you encounter particular difficulties in removing the knob, you can assist yourself by placing two pliers and leveraging them. At this point, you can insert the new knob by pushing it into place instead of the old one. Use a plastic cable tie instead of the previously cut metal ring to secure the gaiter and clip it back onto the base of the gear lever.
