Today's procedure will show us how to disassemble and replace the thermostat and engine coolant of the Piaggio Vespa GTS 300, in simple steps. First, we put the scooter on the center stand and start unscrewing the screws securing the water pump casing, in order to remove it; we drain the fluid into a container, as shown in the video.

At this point, we disassemble the thermostat and replace it with the new one; we reinstall the water pump casing, topping up with the new coolant as the last step!

Vespa Immobiliser: How to Transfer the Chip from the Old Key

In the case shown in the video, the new keys are not recognised by the ECU: the Vespa starts but does not run (thus the immobiliser is active). The solution shown in the video involves locating the immobiliser chip in the old key (the one recognised by the ECU). Open the cover on the key (only red master keys or some blue ones), remove the chip (which is a small black cylinder or rectangle), insert it into the new key in place of the new one, and try to start. Now the key will work. If the master key is red, it will definitely work. If it is blue, it might work: you need to cut the silicone; this is possible but a delicate operation. If it is a black clone key, then it is a system that does not work.
