In this video, we see the engine of the Renault Twingo II located at the rear of the vehicle. It is a three-cylinder engine, as is common these days, with a capacity of 898 cc, turbocharged.

The imperative is to reduce consumption and consequently reduce CO2 emissions; the solution is to make smaller engines with greater efficiency, and the reduction in the number of cylinders is due to the ideal displacement of around 300/400 cm³, resulting in an engine with approximately 1,000 cc total displacement; thanks to this combination, vehicles have much lower consumption compared to the past.

However, these engines have a problem: when used outside of the optimal conditions tested for homologation, in normal use, to avoid knocking, the mixture must be enriched, which means consuming and polluting more.

This poses a challenge for designers in the future.
