What Does Active Locking Mean

The warning light on the dashboard indicating that the active locking is engaged (or the message 'Active Locking' in newer cars) shows that the electronic immobiliser of the vehicle has been activated. This electronic device is present in all cars manufactured from a certain year onwards, particularly since the introduction of electronic control in vehicles. The electronic immobiliser is a device that recognises the ignition key and, in the event of an attempted theft using other keys, prevents the ignition of the vehicle. As mentioned in the video and in the comments below, the device is far from foolproof, and when it fails, repairing it can be quite costly.
