Let's see how to replace the EGR valve of a Renault Clio II (diesel, of course). When we buy the new valve, it's very important to also purchase the gasket: we can find the kit on Amazon with the code B09P1HB4Z5 for the price of 33.98 euros, with free delivery for Prime customers. Let's open the hood: the engine must be cold. Disconnect the negative battery cable and then unplug the electrical connectors of the mass air flow sensor. Loosen the clamp on the hose that goes to the turbo and unclip the air box. To remove the old EGR valve, disconnect the electrical connector, remove the valve, possibly prying it off gently with a screwdriver. The valve is fragile—clean the intake manifold seat thoroughly, being careful where debris falls, as it can be dangerous for the engine. Remove the old gasket and inspect and clean the intake manifold where the valve fits: use a specific cleaner and a brush to remove as much dirt as possible. Install the new gasket and then the new valve, hand-tighten the first two nuts, and then tighten to 25 Nm. Reconnect the electrical connector. Reassemble the air box and all electrical connectors; reconnect the battery and start the engine. Check for any air leaks. After the replacement, it is recommended to reset the ECU adaptations using an OBD2 diagnostic tool.
