How to Clean the EGR Valve on a Renault Clio III 1.5 dCi

The EGR valve on the Clio III 1.5 dCi tends to clog with carbon, causing a loss of power and engine warning light. To clean it, remove the intake manifold and the EGR valve. Disconnect the electrical connector and the fixing screws. Soak the EGR valve and manifold in a basin with petrol (or a specific cleaner like the one available on eBay with code 353405435745 for £11.79, free delivery) for about 15 minutes. Use a brush to remove carbon deposits from the internal surfaces and guides. Repeat the process several times until the parts are clean. Refit the valve and manifold, tightening the screws. Regular cleaning (every 18,000-25,000 miles) prevents clogging and extends the life of the valve.
