How to Replace Front Discs and Pads on a Renault Captur MK1

Let's see how to change the front discs and pads on a Renault Captur MK1: start by siphoning the brake fluid from the reservoir under the bonnet to prevent overflow when pushing the pistons back. Lift the wheel and loosen the brake bolts before lifting. Remove the caliper by taking off the spring safety clip; remove the two 7 mm socket bolts (they are also under the sliding guides at the back of the caliper); hang the caliper from the frame with a rope (do not let it hang from the brake hose). Now unscrew the two large bolts that secure the caliper bracket to the hub (you may need an extension to loosen them). Remove the two disc fastening bolts (Torx T35). Now clean everything well with a wire brush on the hub and caliper bracket; clean the sliding guides and degrease the new discs with brake cleaner. It's time to mount the new disc, placing it on the hub and securing it with the Torx bolts, which are only needed for centring at this moment. Reattach the caliper bracket with a torque of 100 Nm. Install the pads with a small amount of special grease on the contact parts of the bracket (and NEVER on the friction side). Slide the caliper over the pads, insert the two 7 mm socket bolts tightening them to 28 Nm and reattach the safety clips.
