How to Change the Cabin Filter on a Renault Megane IV

Let's see how to change the cabin filter on a Renault Megane IV: this is hidden in a very awkward spot behind the glove compartment (passenger side), but you do not need to remove the entire dashboard. Follow these steps. Open the glove compartment and empty it, then unclip the damper that holds the compartment open: usually, you press or pull it sideways. Push the side walls of the glove compartment inward to unclip the stop pins; this allows the compartment to lower completely (flipping forward towards the seats). Lower the glove compartment until it opens fully. Locate the cabin filter cover: it is a rectangular black plastic panel, usually near the centre console, under the dashboard. Unclip the cover and pull out the old filter: if it is stuck, pull gently (be careful not to tear it). Clean the housing (with a damp cloth or vacuum) from leaves, dust, and debris. Insert the new filter respecting the orientation (usually the arrows on the filter indicate the airflow direction) then close the filter cover until you hear it click. Reassemble the glove compartment: reposition the side pins, reattach the damper, and close the door.
