Repairing a Digital Key

This video shows how to repair the smart key of the Renault Megane Laguna. First, obtain a new cover and a hacksaw blade. Once the metal key and battery are removed, place the smart key in a vice and start cutting along the joint line of the two cover pieces (which is sealed); be careful not to cut too deeply as this could damage the internal components of the key. The cut can go a bit deeper only on the shorter side of the perimeter. Once the key is opened, lift the green circuit area with a screwdriver until it is removed. Most malfunction issues arise from the disconnection of the transponder coil, the battery area, or the three buttons for opening/closing the doors. For this reason, using a fine-tipped soldering iron, reinforce the electronic components, the solder joints around the buttons, and the battery. Once the microsoldering is complete, use scissors to remove the small piece of plastic near the battery: this will allow the circuit board to fit unobstructed into the new shell. Properly position the green board between the two parts of the shell and, after verifying the accuracy of the positioning, apply glue to the inner corners of the shell and reseal everything.
