In the electrical component diagrams, the Renault Clio III is equipped with a control unit, located at the rear of the engine bay, on the left. Also in the engine bay, we find the battery: the high-power fuse box is positioned directly above it. The glow plugs are screwed directly into the engine, in the cylinder block. The timer relay is managed by the control unit. The circuit works as follows: when the ignition is turned on, the timer receives the signal. The unit commands the activation of the glow plug relay, which is located in the fuse box in the engine bay; the relay closes and allows current to flow directly from the battery to the glow plugs. After the time calculated by the control unit (based on the coolant temperature), the warning light goes out and you can start the engine with the starter.
