Adjusting the Handbrake Mechanism
Model: Renault Laguna
Laguna 2, MK 2, X74
- Years 2001-2007
The handbrake, commonly referred to as the parking brake, is of particular importance. It is good practice to rely on the handbrake when parking the vehicle, especially on inclined roads; relying solely on the gear engagement could lead to trouble if the vehicle inadvertently rolls away. Proper adjustment of the handbrake ensures effective locking of the rear wheels. The adjustment is done via a nut located under the handbrake lever, accessible by removing the rear part of the centre console. The adjustment system acts on the steel cables that operate the brake shoes. The operation involves adjusting the tension of these cables, ensuring that the handbrake fully releases when not in use; otherwise, in addition to slowing the vehicle, the brakes may overheat and burn out the linings.

How to Remove the Steering Column on an Opel Meriva
Here’s how to remove the steering column on an Opel Meriva. Start by removing the plastic covers around the steering wheel (using a plastic trim tool), then remove the lower plastic covers. Unscrew the securing bolts at the bottom of the steering column using a socket wrench; remove the steering column (after freeing both ends) and prepare to fit the new part. Connect the new steering column to the vehicle body, tighten all the bolts, and finally reattach the plastic covers. Test the correct operation of the part. by ScegliAuto More videos
