How do you reset the "Parking brake fault" message on a 2011 Renault Laguna Mk3 1.5 dCi?

If the message "Parking brake fault" appears on your Renault Laguna, before panicking try to reset it. Turn off the car, close the doors and wait a couple of minutes. Then turn on the ignition without starting the engine and press the electronic parking brake button several times. If the message does not disappear, try disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes to reset the electronics. If it still doesn't work, there may be a problem with the brake motor or sensors: in that case, a diagnosis with the OBD tester is needed. If the brake works but the error remains, updating the ECU in the workshop may be sufficient.
