How to replace the timing belt in a Renault Kangoo 1.6
Model: Renault Kangoo
MK 2, FW, FC
- Years 2007-2021
In this video tutorial we are shown and explained the steps to be able to replace the timing belt on a Renault Kangoo 1.6. Before removing the belt, it is necessary to check the correct timing of the engine and make references with paint so as to facilitate later reassembly of the components. The first step will be to open the bonnet of the engine compartment and free it from all the elements that hinder access to the timing belt, then it will be necessary to extract the windscreen wipers and the relative gasket, the two trims placed on the sides of the windscreen, the motor windshield wipers etc. Once all the pieces that are indicated to us in the video images have been disassembled, we can proceed with the removal of the old belt. We will then remove the internal carter of the right front mudguard and the cover in front of the crankshaft pulley and with a special key we will act on the tensioner and remove the accessory belt and subsequently also the tensioner itself. At this point we will have to remove the lower tie rod of the power unit and the camshaft protection plugs and insert the crankshaft timing pin; to access the timing belt we will have to remove the protective casing and the crankshaft pulley, loosen the belt tensioner and proceed with its removal and replacement.
