How to Open the Boot of a Skoda Octavia

Let's see how to open the rear boot of a Skoda Octavia when the electric mechanism or external button is not working. This procedure is valid for many models with electric boots. Access the boot from the cabin by folding down the rear seat backrest and locating the access panel on the inside of the boot lid: look for a plastic rectangle, identifiable by a finger grip or slightly detached edge. No tools are needed to remove the panel; insert your fingers into the grip and gently pry with a flat screwdriver at the sides until it releases. You will see the locking mechanism: a brightly coloured plastic lever that you need to pull or rotate until you hear a clear 'click' indicating the lock has opened. Push the boot from the top towards the inside to fully open it.
