How to Remove the Cylinder Head on a Smart Fortwo

Here’s how to remove the cylinder head on a Smart Fortwo. Start by removing the rear bumper; take off the metal soundproofing panel covering the engine and pull out the oil dipstick. Disconnect all the connectors supplying electricity to the glow plugs using needle-nose pliers. Remove the various wiring present on the cylinder head (disconnect the metal clips on the various pipes and the power connectors with pliers). Unscrew all the bolts securing the engine with a socket wrench or electric screwdriver; remove it. Reassemble everything in reverse order.
