How to Replace Glow Plugs on a Smart Fortwo

Are the glow plugs on your Smart Fortwo damaged? Here’s how to remove them from inside the engine compartment. Open and lift the rear hatch (where the engine compartment is located). Remove the engine cover panel from the Smart, and take off any additional covers if present. Access the coils located above the glow plugs. Remove the coil cover (as shown in the video). Grip the coil with your hands and twist it until it comes out of the cylinder head. Unscrew the glow plugs with a socket and identify which ones are damaged. Take the new glow plug and insert it into the cylinder head with the socket. Replace all damaged glow plugs.
