Smart Fortwo 451: How to Reset the Maintenance Service from the Instrument Cluster

To reset the service on the Smart Fortwo 451, insert the key and turn on the instrument cluster, leaving the engine off. Within the first four seconds, repeatedly press the trip reset button until the maintenance indicator appears on the display. At this point, turn off the cluster within about ten seconds. Without removing the key, press and hold the same trip reset button; keep it pressed and turn the instrument cluster back on. Continue to hold for about ten seconds until the maintenance interval value starts to scroll and the odometer display shows "0". Only then release the button. Turn off and restart the Smart Fortwo 451 to verify that the service light is no longer present and that the maintenance reminder has been reset.
