Changing the Gear Oil on a Smart 453

Today, you will learn how to change the gear oil on a Smart 453. Lift the car with a jack and place a support stand underneath. Using an 8 mm Allen key, unscrew the drain plug of the gearbox and collect the used oil in a container. Once this process is complete, tighten the drain hole and start filling with new lubricant from the upper fill hole. It is recommended to use synthetic manual gearbox oil SAE 75W (you will need about 2 litres or slightly more, costing around £15 per litre). It is also advisable to perform this maintenance every approximately 45,000 miles.
