This guide provides the main instructions for removing and replacing the fuel pump or float from the Smart Fortwo's tank. First, lift the vehicle and start by removing the fuel tank; unscrew all the screws of the mounting brackets, lowering it from the vehicle with the help of a jack.

Next, remove the cover of the fuel pump, disconnecting the fuel hose and the electrical connector; unscrew the pump's collar to remove it and replace it with the new one!
