How to Replace the Battery in a Smart

This video tutorial shows how to replace the battery in a 2005 Smart 450. The recommended new battery in the video is the Titanium Fiamm model L2 60P, 12V. It is a larger battery compared to the standard one and helps avoid starting issues typical of the 450 and 451 models. In the Smart 450, the battery is located under the carpet on the passenger side; first, you need to remove the carpet and the underlying cover by unscrewing the two plastic screws present. Once the cover is removed, you will have access to the battery. Remove the positive terminal cover and with a 10mm spanner, unscrew the bracket; then, using scissors, cut the tie wrap and with the 10mm spanner, unscrew the bolts from both the negative and positive terminals before disconnecting them from the battery. At this point, you can extract the battery and proceed with the replacement by inserting the new battery into the designated space.
