The guide shows how to replace the rear brake pads of the Smart 451 Fortwo Coupe. To carry out this operation it is necessary to safely lift the vehicle and remove the rear wheels to access the brakes. The first operation to perform is to unscrew the Torx T27 retaining screw and tap the drum cover to release it. Pull out the cover to access the jaws. With pliers, detach the two fixing pins of the plates; these pins can only be unscrewed in one direction. In order to extract the two pads, the lower part of the pads must first come out, in order to remove the springs and free the two brake arms. Disconnect the handbrake cable and discard the old brake pads. In the video it is possible to see the correct arrangement of the pieces inside the drum. Clean the inside of the drum of dirt residues with a wire brush. Insert the new pads with the springs and the upper holding rod and then the lower spring. Reassemble everything and check the correct functioning of the brakes.
