To replace the internal handle on a Smart Roadster, detach the door panel by loosening the various screws. Once the panel is removed, you can access the handle actuator, which is located inside the door: this can be removed from its housing by loosening the mounting screws and disconnecting the connector. Once the old actuator is removed, insert a new one, connect it to the connector, and secure it with its bolts; finally, reinstall the door panel.
