To replace the handle cable on the Smart ForTwo, you will need to loosen the screws that secure the door panel to its housing. This will need to be freed from the corresponding screws, after which you can detach it to locate the cable. The two ends will be connected to the handle and the lower right part of the door itself. Once they are freed, you can remove the cable and position the new one. This can now be secured at both ends, reattaching the panel and ensuring everything is functioning.
