You can see in this video how to remove the handle from the inner door of a Smart Fortwo 450: first, unscrew the screw holding the triangular plastic part inside the tailgate, near the handle. This will allow you to remove the entire external handle assembly.

You can find the replacement cable, for example, on Amazon with the code B0CWKQD854 for £16.35, with free delivery for Prime customers. Remove the broken cable and replace it with the new one by carefully removing the old one with pliers from the handle and inserting the new one. Check that the handle moves freely and lubricate it if necessary, connect the wire to its mechanism, and refit the handle into its housing, tightening the screw inside the cabin.
