The Smart's bodywork can be described as a true fairing, similar to that of motorcycles. The chassis is covered with plastic panels secured mainly by pressure clips and a few screws.

To remove the side skirt under the door, simply pull out the two expansion clips along the edge of the rear wheel arch, detach the pressure clips located just below the side skirt, and then pull it backwards to complete the removal. To refit, first remove the clips from the door pins and insert them into the appropriate slots on the side skirt.

Start by inserting the front part, ensuring that the front wheel arch passes inside the side skirt, align the clips with the pins, and then secure them by applying the rear clips.
