Instructions for Half Shaft Replacement

Model: Subaru Outback BP, BL, MK 3 - Years 2003-2009
Part: Axle shaft

The half shaft is the connecting element between the gearbox and the wheel and is secured at the centre of the hub with a large nut that has a safety pin applied to prevent it from accidentally unscrewing: therefore, remove the safety pin and unscrew the nut; then detach the suspension arm ball joint to allow the hub to move outward and slide out the half shaft; then extract the pin securing the half shaft flange from the gearbox side using a punch and complete the removal of the half shaft. Proceed in reverse for the installation of the new half shaft, ensuring the pin is secured (use a new one), the nut, and the corresponding safety pin.
