Unlike many other systems, the Toyota RAV-4 MK2 did not offer the possibility to deactivate the all-wheel drive, which was permanent, ensuring always the best grip on all four wheels. However, some versions, like the one we see in the video, were equipped with a lockable central differential. This function, activated by the button we can see in the video and located in the central console, to the right of the steering wheel, increased the off-road capabilities of the vehicle, improving traction on slippery or low-grip terrains, as well as allowing it to tackle rough terrains and even steep slopes.
