The risk is that the cables, positioned in front of the curtain airbag mounted in the pillar, may obstruct the proper deployment of the airbag in the event of an accident, and be violently torn away by the airbag, damaging the dash cam or the vehicle. The correct method of installation is to move the pillar trim, which is designed to be removed and repositioned; pass the cables BEHIND the airbag and follow the path of the vehicle's original cables. Secure the cables with ties or supports that do not obstruct the operation of the airbag, and then carefully reassemble the trim, making sure the cables are not pinched.
