In this video, we can see how to repair a tear, even a large one, using sewing skills. You will need a sturdy needle, a thread of a similar colour to the upholstery that is very strong, and a lot of skill. As shown in the video, start by taking the fabric from before the tear and sewing it so that the thread goes over the fabric. Then take the fabric with the thread from the still intact part, sewing it with a whip stitch and passing it over the damaged area, repeating the work from the other side. Continue to the end of the tear where you will also take the fabric from the intact part. Then begin to pull tightly (this is why a very strong thread is needed) to completely close the stitch, bringing the two edges of the fabric together: this way, the tear disappears completely.
