The tool detects the moisture content in the fluid: if it is less than 1.5%, the green light will illuminate, indicating the fluid is in good condition. If the yellow light comes on, it is advisable to change it soon: moisture is between 1.5% and 3%. If it shows red, the moisture is above 3%, and it must be changed immediately.

Other evaluation methods include mileage/time. It is advisable to change it every 2 years/60,000 miles.

A visual inspection can help: it should be clear, not cloudy, and the brake pedal should feel firm, not spongy.
