How to Test Fuses with a Multimeter to Check if They Are Faulty

To test the fuses, set the multimeter to the "Ohm" function (200 or 20k Ohm); connect the probes, black to COM and red to Ohm. Test the probes: touching them together should read 0 or close to 0 Ohm. Isolate the fuse: do not test on metal surfaces (this can falsify the reading). Place the probes on both visible metal contacts; read the value: between 0 and 1, the fuse is good (circuit closed) OL/1 (overload) or a very high value = blown fuse (circuit open). For cylindrical fuses, place the probes on both metal ends: "open" means the internal filament is broken (fuse to be replaced). The test is binary. It either works or it doesn’t.
