How to test the flow meter without removing it from its housing on a Ford car

Model: Ford Ford Various
Part: Mass air flow sensor

The flow meter is mounted between the engine air filter and the intake manifold; transmits a variable voltage to the engine control unit, which corresponds to the mass of air entering the engine. In the case we see in the video, the flow meter has a connector with 4 cables. We are interested in the earth cable and the one that sends the air mass information to the engine control unit. The signal must be measured with a multimeter (20 Volts). We need to ID the power cable to the mass air flow meter. To do this, turn on the ignition, then connect the negative cable to the black cable of the connector (which is the one on the ground). Now we connect the positive cable to another cable. In this case the purple wire is the supply wire (12 Volts). Now we need to identify the cable that sends the air mass information. Once found, do a test with the engine running. If the reading changes as the engine speed increases, then the flow meter is OK, otherwise it is faulty.
