How to regenerate the shock absorber bearing/support

When you turn the steering wheel - especially on a Fiat group car - and you hear a kind of creaking noise, then it is almost always the fault of the bearing above the shock absorber (but it could also be the stabilizer bar link). In this video we see how to regenerate the bearing/support of the shock absorber; in fact, if it is not too damaged, it is possible to regenerate it simply by cleaning it from the dirt that has accumulated. If the rubber is intact and still soft, we remove it by pulling it. To open the bearing, just lever it in some points. Opening it, we see that the tracks where the balls run are extremely dirty: we will clean them with thinner, and we will also clean the ball support and the balls themselves, using a small brush. The balls can be removed from the support, then just reinsert them one by one, as long as they are all there. We give a thread of grease on the tracks and on the cage before reassembling the component. We close it and turn it by hand and then we can reassemble it.
