How to disassemble and repair a bumper without painting it on a Volkswagen Golf

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 6, Golf VI, Golf 6, 5K1 - Years 2008-2012

If the thought of such an operation scares you, know that repairing a bumper without repainting it is not that complicated. Disconnect the battery for safety reasons, then unscrew the bolts in the wheel arches, after removing the wheels, and under the bumper. Gently pull off the bumper to avoid breaking the hooks. If it is cracked, use a thermal stapler, in this way you can heat the staples with the electric torch and insert them along the crack to weld it. Once cooled, you can smooth it with sandpaper and if necessary some plastic putty. Reassemble everything in reverse order. If the damage is only cosmetic, a good polishing may be enough. If instead you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, contact a trusted workshop.
