What to Do if the Tailgate of the Volkswagen Touran Won't Open

Let's see how to repair the tailgate of a Volkswagen Touran that won't open. Inside the triangular door, you will find two screws, which you will remove. There are also two more screws in the handles that need to be removed. Use a plastic lever to pry between the panel and the tailgate; this helps release the metal clips without scratching the plastic, then sharply pull off the panel and remove the entire handle assembly. Remove the rubber covering the back of the handle; to extract the handle, push out a small pin, which allows you to slide out the handle. Now you will see a small switch activated by a metal lever: this lever bends over time and no longer presses the switch adequately. Place something thick under the metal lever for support and slightly bend the front of the metal lever downwards. This will ensure that when the handle is mounted, it presses the switch with more force. Reassemble the handle and push in the side movable pin to secure the handle in its final position. Test the mechanism's functionality and reassemble everything.
