How to Adjust the Handbrake on a Volkswagen Golf V

To adjust the handbrake on a Volkswagen Golf V, start by removing the cup holder and lifting the cover of the central console; under the removed cover, you will find two screws, and inside a small cover, there is another screw, plus two more on the sides. Lift the console and remove the central tray. Now, there is one last screw to remove, which requires extensions. Lower the handbrake and lift the back of the central console: you will see the adjustment screw. Pull the lever three clicks and insert the socket onto the adjustment nut: turn it until you feel the correct tension. Test the lever and check that the rear wheels turn freely with the brake released. Then, reassemble everything in reverse order.
