In this guide, adjust the handbrake on a Volkswagen Golf 4. Use a screwdriver to remove the cover located at the back of the armrest; disconnect the power connector, then use a socket spanner to unscrew the plastic armrest. Once removed, unscrew the securing nuts of the central tunnel under the handbrake lever using a socket spanner or screwdriver with a bit. When the handbrake lever is free, adjust it by loosening or tightening the pins. Finally, refit the cover and all associated parts in reverse order.
